Last year, Mrs Biljana, asked me to quill a birthday cards for her tween brothers. I'd already made her little Sara and Relja cards. And for these cards, all I knew was: they should be Cyrillic letters "D", event: 50th birthday celebration.
She also wanted me to do a small cards with their nicknames that should look like this one. I totally disobeyed her wish and made something different.

I'd never made cards for "grown ups" before and I did get a little bit stuck LOL Brown could be nice, I thought; not to dark, warm, good enough. I needed something that would represent the best ages, golden ones:) so I decided to make wheat. And some sedge.

I glued the first green "D". I was walking around it and when I was looking at it at the angle of 180 degrees, I saw that it's actually Cyrillic letter "B" for Biljana. Perfect! I wanted to make one for her, as a surprise and not to separate sister from her brothers.
Expecting her reaction, first I showed cards for her brothers. Well, she was trilled and then she said she wanted the same for her and then I gave her the "B"card. It was nice.

When I quilled wheat, there were a lot of golden paper in front of me. My mother said it looked like a straw and gave me an idea to make a nest. I glued those pieces of golden paper together. The nest was so small ( if I remember well, it's hardly 1cm diameter ) I needed three tiny, tiny birds. I was wondering if this would be proper. I mean, not too childish. But, then I thought that brothers and sisters have that special bond, you know, even when they get old and leave their "nest", when they get together there is always that love, that something special between them that makes them young.

My daughter was three at the time and she looked at these birds and almost started to cry wondering what in the world had happened to their mother. She insisted to make Mommy Bird.
This is the set I done. I had no time to take better shots.
ReplyDeleteWow they really turned out sharp, they had to ,just love them!

Your work is beautiful! I love your little birdies in their nest. Hugs,

Gorgeous, Suzana - I LOVE the birds' nest!!
ReplyDeleteLove your style - so gentle and so elegant, I can't help admiring how courageous you are working with colors like that - many crafters don't like browns and darks unless they're pretending to make something "vintage".
ReplyDeleteVery neat work, and all the details - nests, knots, cattails =) Great job!
Oh, thank you all so much.
ReplyDeleteAljona, I crazy about brown color lol
